The Perfume of Life

A play based on the short stories of the legendary Malayalam writer Vaikom Muhammand Basheer, The Perfume of Life portrays the lives of ordinary people and the multi religious society of Kerala. 

The play amalgamates three popular stories of Basheer: “Premalekhanam” (The love letter), “Aanavaariyum Ponkurisum” (The elephant scooper and the golden cross) and “Mucheettu Kalikkarante Makal” (The cardsharper’s daughter). The play attempts to recreate the romance, vengeance, compassion, and humor beautifully narrated by Basheer, on the stage.
